MEET HIGH CAMP SUPPLY — CELEBRITIES’ GO-TO GARDENIA BRAND
To simply call High Camp Supply a floral delivery service would be a gross understatement. San Francisco-based expert Susan Hanson founded the ephemeral luxury brand as a corrective measure for the ills of a modern gardenia market. Hardly any florist at the time sold gardenias, and none of them carried the delicate, fragrant flower in bulk. As Ms. Hanson continued trying to recreate the fragrant feeling-state of her time spent in Hawaii, the idea emerged to take matters into her own hands.
“Experiences are more valuable than ‘things’”, said Ms. Hanson on a phone call from her Bay Area home, which is, predictably, covered in gardenias. High Camp Supply has developed somewhat of a cult following, including fashion houses, celebrities, and pillars of the design industry all keep a standing subscription of bloom boxes monthly. Sourcing all of its flowers domestically, the brand has its own gardenia farm in California —a point that served well during the pandemic, as floral competitors struggled to source flowers.
But the nuances of shipping gardenias were not as elegant as the flower itself. “I worked for months, refining the optimal growing methods and shipping flowers to myself until the process was perfected. No one had successfully shipped gardenias en-masse by air before due to the flower’s delicacy,” explained Ms. Hanson. Her imaginative, effervescent gift boxes oftentimes pair with gorgeous, fragrant candles in shapely and elegant glass components. “We were the first to ship gardenias — meaning putting flowers in a box and shipping them overnight directly to a recipient’s door. We completely changed the look, feel, and expectations of the floral industry.”
While gardenias remain the cornerstone of the brand, High Camp Supply expanded their reach to exotic, large white lilies, and new iterations of their famous candles. Substituting wicks for wooden burning methods, High Camp Supply’s candles have the added benefit of hearing the light cracklings of a campfire.
Though the company’s elegant branding and crisp, indulgent photography feel very on target for the age of static Instagram ads and#flowerporn, the boxes themselves are undoubtedly designed to be savored in three dimensions, and through every sense. Ms. Hanson’s team picks and arranges the very best blooms, and while the delivery requires some assembly, there’s practically no room for human error. The blooms, usually several dozen white, well-packed stems, arrive in a box with built-in cooling measures. Placed in a vase, spread throughout the home, or simply blooms floating in a bowl of water — the gift of High Camp gardenias is unmatched in fragrance and feeling.
"WHEN YOU LIFT THE LID, THE AROMA WILL TAKE YOUR BREATH AWAY. THIS IS NO ORDINARY FLOWER-DELIVERY COMPANY."
For gardenia lovers. The fragrant flowers arrive, loose and untied, in a black lacquered box. When you lift the lid, the aroma will take your breath away. This is no ordinary flower-delivery company. (highcampsupply.com)
INSIDE BLAKE LIVELY'S 33RD BIRTHDAY: FACETIME, NYC SWEETS, AND RYAN REYNOLDS WITH CAKE
Blake Lively isn't the type of celebrity to break non-essential travel bans, charter a private jet during the coronavirus pandemic, and fly off to a tropical resort to celebrate her birthday. The Gossip Girl star turned 33 on Tuesday with a low-key (and generally COVID policy-adhering) celebration at home with family and some very special treats.
She shared a series of highlights from the day on her Instagram Story last night. Lively has been quarantining with her husband Ryan Reynolds; their three daughters James, Inez, and Betty; and at least nine additional friends and family members. She revealed on her Instagram Stories that she's in an "isolation pod" and had a little spa afternoon at her friend Angie Niles's home.
Here, Lively's play-by-play of her day: She started with "Birthday highlights," posting a pic of a trail of ribbons her family (likely children) surprised her with. "Thank you to everyone who made it so special!!! I love you."
For breakfast, she got a homemade McMuffin "but with allllll the sriracha mayonnaise."
From there, Lively posted a pic of all the New York City Il Laboratorio del Gelato birthday cake popsicles she treated herself to. "Telling myself I bought so many to support one of my favorite NYC small businesses. But the reasons were mostly selfish," she quipped.
Lively's friend Kate Vorhoff bought her a '90-themed caboodle as a birthday gift. "This is not a dream," Lively wrote. "[Kate] moved into my brain. I've never felt so seen."
Lively posted a selfie of herself trying to FaceTime jewelry designer Schwartz later in the day, wearing Schwartz and Ofira jewelry. "Earrings, ring, and declined call," Lively wrote, crediting her jewelers.
From there, Lively got an afternoon of pampering at Niles' home. "When [Angie] and @MrJustinJohnson make a spa in their living room because they're creative, caring, isolation pod abiding, hotel amenities hoarding heroes who love me too well," she wrote.
Lively ended her posts with photos of three more gifts: Ross Bread baked goods from her sister Robyn, a necklace with her daughters' names from jewelry designer Jennifer Meyer, and a High Camp Gardenias candle and flowers.
"Yup. I know. Impossible. More food," Lively captioned the post with her sister's gift. "Thank god we have 13 family and friends quarantining with us. [Robyn], thank you for these! It's the first best thing to you actually being here in person to share them with me."
"Live footage of me when I got this from [Jennifer Meyer]," Lively captioned the photo of her new necklace.
And for the final post, she wrote, "This smells like if heaven delivered on all things promised. All. at. once."
There you have it: the highlights of Lively's 33rd birthday. This morning, she shared one last highlight: Ryan Reynolds bringing her cake. She zoomed in on his bicep, posting a "Happy birthday to me" gif.

The gift that never fails: High Camp Supply ships the most beautiful and fragrant gardenias from its farm in California.
HIGH CAMP SUPPLY CREATES A ROMANTIC UNBOXING EXPERIENCE FOR PREVIOUSLY UNSHIPPABLE GARDENIAS
High Camp Supply is a brand that sits at the intersection of floral appreciators and those who know how to effectively romanticize their lives. The branding, developed by Susan Hanson, began first as just that: an idea. Hanson started High Camp Supply with a comprehensive branding project; it was just missing the product.
Hanson was inspired by the idea of appreciating the finer things fused with a fondness for nature and grit. As a result, the brand evolved into an extension of self, a yin-yang of organic and luxe, and became the first shipped gardenia business. The floral shipping boxes are refined, glossy, and black, beautifully contrasting the soft, white velvety petals of the beloved gardenia flowers.
The unlabeled boxes and candles create an aura of sophistication, wonderfully forcing consumers to become encapsulated by the gifting experience instead of being distracted by the packaging or material side of the gifting occasion. The entire packaging design is dedicated to appreciating the every day and understanding the art of making memories through experience.
Susan Hanson founded High Camp Supply in 2014, inspired to create the first “Ephemeral Luxury” experience based brand that celebrates the everyday through sensory gifting and imprinting memories through unique and extraordinary experiences. High Camp Supply’s signature product is the cut-to-order farm-to-door Vine & Bloom Box. High Camp pioneered sending flowers overnight directly from the farm to consumers and is first to ship the fragile gardenia bloom, thus making it available year-round.
Gardenias are Susan’s favorite flower - as they are beautiful not only in their appearance but in their rich, decadent and mesmerizing fragrance, an instant mood enhancer as they create a magnetic sensory overload. Gardenias have long been associated with elegance and grace. In ancient lore, gardenias were sacred to Morpheus, the Greek god of dreams. The blooms are simultaneously simple and decadent, imprinting all those who encounter them.
A long standing favorite to many, the exclusive availability of the gardenia put High Camp on the map. “I love living with gardenias in my everyday environments, as well as using them to celebrate life’s most intimate and formal occasions,” states Founder, Susan Hanson. Susan is a lifelong Creative Director and Entrepreneur, specializing in large scale events and installations, commercial design and editorial photoshoots. Susan’s clients have ranged from Vogue to global tastemakers and titans of industry.
Gardenias had never successfully shipped en-masse by air. Undeterred, we worked for months, refining the optimal growing methods and shipping flowers to ourselves until we perfected the process. Today High Camp is the only company in the US to ship directly to consumer cut-to-order High Camp Gardenias quality vines and blooms year-round from our farm in California’s beautiful central coast.
As the first to ship flowers overnight via FedEx, we had to pave many roads. In retrospect it seems simple to mark a box “perishable flowers, open immediately” or to mark them as fragile, yet it took 6 months to learn how to ship the flowers to consistently arrive in optimal blooming condition.
Shipping “cut-to-order” gardenias requires strictly monitored conditions. We are the world’s sole purveyor of this fragile flower allowing year round availability direct to the consumer’s door. Susan developed her signature candles to include in the boxes to create a perfect companion to the gardenias. The candles come in the signature gardenia palo santo and Roma scents with crackling wide wood wicks. They are extremely oversized ranging from one to fifteen pounds.
The response has been wonderfully overwhelming. Customers reach out regularly to share memories evoked and the joy the package brought to their home or loved ones. Featured in Vogue Gift Guide for holiday, Vanity Fair Cult Favorites, Architectural Digest #1 Luxe Floral Delivery, Oprah’s Favorite Things and Elle Decor “What’s Hot”, High Camp is on a journey to deliver more sensory- based experiences, and our calendar is filled with surprises we can’t wait to share in the coming year.
HOW TO GET LUXURY BLOOMS...
Gardenia flowers are more than dear to my heart. They were my Mama's (my mother's mom) most beloved flower. I grew up surrounded by these beautiful blooms and frequently gift them to my family for special occasions. When I came across High Camp Supply via Instagram, I was so taken aback by their unique and special targeted mission to deliver these flowers ...Being in love with the power and impact of this bloom, they founded High Camp Supply Co., a gardenia farm in California that specializes in locally sourced gardenias that are harvested from nearby organic growers and delivered to your door. Every bundle is picked and shipped the same day to preserve the highest quality of freshness. The duo was so obsessed with making sure the quality of their blooms was the best, they shipped themselves gardenia boxes for six months before launching this past summer. To say their love and passion for this venture has played off is an understatement. The gift box of blooms came in perfect condition with some on-the-vine gardenias ready to sprout and loose blooms that were to be placed in water. Each bloom is abundantly full of the fragrance that only the gardenia flower entails — an aroma and presence that filled our home.

BLAKE LIVELY’S BIRTHDAY GIFT IS FLOWERS AND A CANDLE ALL-IN-ONE
Many of us have had to rethink our birthday festivities in quarantine, and celebrities are no exception. Blake Lively turned 33 this week and opted to spend the day at home with her husband, Ryan Reynolds, eating homemade cake and having a DIY spa day (as documented on her Instagram). She also showed off some of her gifts, including one luxurious flower-candle combo that we can’t stop thinking about—the High Camp Vine & Bloom box.
The box comes in three sizes and features the brand’s signature wide-wick gardenia-and-palo santo–scented candle, along with a bundle of palo santo smudge sticks and 24 freshly cut gardenias. It’s a little on the pricey side, but if you’ve ever debated what to send your BFF for their birthday, the package hits all the right notes. Consider Lively’s Instagram Story review: “This smells like if heaven delivered on all things promised. All. At. Once.”
If you’d like to gift (or get) florals but your wallet isn’t feeling High Camp’s luxury boxes, try one of these garden-scented candles instead. Diptyque’s best-selling Lily scent will freshen up any space, while Byredo’s Burning Rose is known to be Jennifer Aniston’s choice. For budget-friendly options, HSN’s Japanese Pagaoda Candle has notes of passion fruit white jasmine petals, and P.F. Candle Co.’s Sandalwood Rose is a cult favorite.
#SOCIALGATHERING... GARDENIAS ARE THE NEW INSTA FLOWER
If you’re wondering why there’s been a sudden explosion of single-stem gardenias on your feed, look to High Camp Supply. The California grower elegantly boxes perfect gardenias (a box of 30 stems is $129) to decorate your home. If you’re looking for an out-of-the-box gift, look no further.
PETAL PUSH
While gardenias’ heady, intense scent is part of their allure, their fleeting nature makes them quite hard to find—and especially hard to ship. High Camp Supply has rectified this dilemma for connoisseurs, providing boxes of either 30 or 50 unblemished blooms, with portions on the vine and vase-ready, along with stemless flower tops to float in water. Now the Northern California company has launched a subscription service, Endless Supply ($1,800 to $11,000), for delivery weekly, biweekly, or monthly.

INTERVIEW WITH HIGH CAMP FOUNDER SUSAN HANSON
Interested in starting your own entrepreneurial journey but unsure what to expect? Then read up on our interview with Susan Hanson, CEO, Founder, and Head of Brand at High Camp Supply, located in San Francisco, CA, USA.
What's your business, and who are your customers?
HIGH CAMP SUPPLY is the first Ephemeral Luxury company; born of the concept that experiences are more valuable than "things." When looking to convey emotion, there is a sensory language that communicates something words can not express. A gift that imprints the recipient with a deeply seeded memory, an experience more impactful than anything material that money can buy.
We describe our customers as having warm hearts and high expectations. They are primarily the nation's top retail consumers and retailers. We are fortunate to work with world-class customers on a daily basis, and we work extremely hard to earn and keep their trust. People come to us looking to convey emotion, and these gifts are extremely important to them. We want them to be proud and to send something that blows the mind of their intended recipient, especially when they believe that person has "seen everything."
Tell us about yourself
I am a lifetime entrepreneur and creative director. High Camp is my second business, and at this point in my life, it was important to create a business that truly reflects my heart. I envisioned creating a brand that celebrates every day with Ephemeral Luxury and Sensory Gifting. My love of gardenias inspired High Camp Supply's signature Vine and Bloom Box. I have always chosen work that I would do regardless of the financial implications. The lines of work and leisure are extremely blurred for me, and that is intentional. Work ends up being a huge part of our lives. The foundation of High Camp was structured around working with people I want to spend my days with, creating connections and synergies that are interesting, exciting, and rewarding.
What's your biggest accomplishment as a business owner?
Gardenias are my favorite flower, and I love living with gardenias in my everyday environments, as well as using them to celebrate the most formal occasions. Although many people treasure this elegant flower, they had never successfully shipped en-masse by air. Undeterred, I worked for months, refining the optimal growing methods and shipping flowers to ourselves until the process was perfected. We were the first to ship gardenias and, in doing so, the first to put flowers in a box and ship them overnight directly to a recipient's door, completely changing the look, feel, and expectations of the floral industry. Secondly, creating a culture with my team, I am deeply proud of.
What's one of the hardest things that come with being a business owner?
My background is in large-scale or small top-end events, commercial design, photography, video, and film. All of these are "sprint" based, with a clear start and finish. An eCommerce business and the act of creating a luxury brand from scratch is a marathon. Keeping consistent energy and inspiration long-term and learning to refocus my resources is something I've adapted to, and I am encouraged every day to keep pushing forward doing what I love.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?
Remain consistent, don't take the highs or lows too seriously, and keep pushing forward. Doing 5% better on a consistent basis will do the trick.Value all relationships. Customers, Employees, supporters, vendors - everyone. It makes or breaks what you are trying to accomplish, and days are much more fun.Make time to rest. It is critical.

6 QUESTIONS FOR RISING STAR FLORAL…
Those lucky enough to have received a floral delivery from High Camp Supply have experienced the bliss of opening the company’s signature high-gloss box to be engulfed in the fragrance of gardenias. The purveyor of elegant blossoms was founded in 2014, ...inspired to create a floral delivery business that specializes in luxury cuttings, and High Camp Supply was born. Here, ...the philosophy behind their blooming business. Your signature flower is the gardenia.
Why did you choose that fragile flower?
SH: They have such a range—casual or formal, they’re always appropriate. And they’re charming and interactive: People will reach into a bowl, pick one out and add it to their look. They’re adaptable.
What is so unique about your shipping process?
SH: Normally, people call the local florist and say they want to ship flowers and they don’t really know what they are going to get. We created a service that didn’t exist—the option of supplying luxury cuttings overnight.
How do clients arrange the blossoms and vines?
SH: It's as if you walked out into a beautiful garden and cut the bounty and brought it in and used it for tablescapes. It’s much lovelier if you let people put the flowers into their own personal vessels and bowls—grandmother’s teacup or a silver vase, a single blossom in the powder room. You've said that High Camp Supply was born over a bowl of gardenias and a bottle of Champagne.
How did those items inspire your business?
SH: We realized that those are the things that make memories—the concept of creating beauty and celebrating with everyday luxury at home. Instead of going out and spending a lot of effort and money, it’s about getting dressed up to stay home and have fun with your family and friends. You chose the name High Camp and a compass rose logo because they express how everyone should find his own “true north.”
Why do you feel so strongly about that lifestyle?
SH: It’s the concept of doing something just for yourself, about finding balance, being your own best self. We branded the company based on experiences, not things.
HERE’S WHY LANDING ON "OPRAH’S…
Oprah released her "Favorite Things" list this month with 72 items that were "tasted, tested, sniffed, snuggled, brewed, steeped, read, shared and dared" by the talk show maven herself. The list is filled with both popular brands like Beats by Dr. Dre, and lesser-known names like High Camp Supply — a company that is just five months old. The San Francisco, Calif.-based startup's deluxe bloom box is a box full of white gardenias for $189. It landed at No. 5 on Oprah's list this year. "It's gardenia heaven in a beyond-elegant box: two dozen flowers and two dozen vines, grown in Hawaii and California," Oprah wrote. "Arrange the petals in water-filled bowls for a dramatic look, and place the vines in a vase for a scent that lasts long after the blooms have gone."... The flowers caught the eye of a photo editor from Hearst magazines on Instagram and their bloom boxes ended up in ElleDecor and HouseBeautiful. Sales started to take off and then the co-founders heard even bigger news — Oprah was featuring their product on her "Favorite Things List." They had hit the marketing jackpot — a free endorsement from one of the most influential women in the world. "It's been tremendous in terms of the spectacular response," Hanson said in a phone interview. "It's a wonderful thing to be associated with." Andrew Petersen, an assistant professor of marketing at The University of North Carolina's Kenan-Flagler Business School, said in a phone interview that getting an endorsement from a high-profile person like Oprah is even more meaningful for a lesser-known company like High Camp Supply. Petersen says a high-profile endorsement does two things for a startup: it increases awareness of the product and creates brand preference. "The endorsement made people aware of an unknown startup," Petersen said. "It gave them awareness and brand preference that probably led to an increase in sales. Petersen compared the endorsement to an academic article that looked at the impact of a book being placed on The New York Times' Best Seller list. The article says that landing on the list has the largest effect when the book is by an unknown author, or an author's first book. Even if the unknown author receives bad reviews from critics (like Fifty Shades of Grey), awareness and sales still increase when it's placed on the bestseller list. "Even if everyone knew High Camp, Oprah would still have an effect, but not as big of an effect," Petersen said. "So for a startup to get Oprah's endorsement, it would be hard to measure the amount they would have had to spend otherwise ... They could have spent millions on a national ad campaign, but it turned out to be really cheap to have Oprah say it."
FALL, IN LOVE
San Francisco’s sartorial set turned up en masse at the Caldwell Snyder Gallery for the Fall 2014 Must-Haves Fashion Show and Luncheon, a collection of the season’s top runway looks hand-curated bt esteemed style impresarios Joy Bianchi and Sandy Ceppos of Wilkes Bashford. Bianchi and Wilkes Bashford himself doubled as party hosts for the grand afternoon affair (along with Tyler Mitchell and Modern Luxury’s San Francisco magazine), which began with mingling, caviar, and Champagne before guests sat down to a three-course lunch. Equipped with plenty of fall fashion inspiration, guests parted ways with gardenia gifts from High Camp Gardenias--a perfectly sweet finish to a lovely afternoon.
HIGH CAMP GARDENIAS
I've received what I think may be the perfect gift of all time - a High Camp box of fresh-cut gardenias. The packaging is luxe, the gardenias (and orchids) are in perfect form and the idea is fabulous. High Camp offers several options on their site. They're all so beautiful that it's hard to know which one to choose. I can't imagine an occasion where they wouldn't be appropriate to send to someone. My generous friend Kate sent my husband and me a box of gardenias as a thank you for a couple of holiday parties we hosted. She knows how much we love flowers so it was absolutely spot on and so appreciated. One thing is for sure: I will be ordering these beautiful boxes of flowers for my friends!

GARDENIA HEAVEN
Creative Direction: Flutter Magazine; Florals: Prema; Gardenias are from High Camp Gardenia When the editor of Flutter Magazine reached out about working together on an upcoming shoot in their 2018, there was no question that I wanted to be involved. With an immense love for florals and a burning desire to create freely after just coming out of a busy wedding season, it was the perfect play time for me. When you walked into Prema’s studio, the fragrance of gardenias filled the air as you came upon over 100 florals. If only I could tape flowers to my nose for a day and get away with it. It was heaven. I love how the photos came out and am so honored to have been included in Volume 18 of Flutter Magazine, amongst so many other talented creatives.
THESE INSTAGRAM-FRIENDLY FLORAL...
It comes as little surprise that florals have already emerged as a trend for the Spring/Summer 2018 season. As Miranda Priestly smartly quipped in The Devil Wears Prada, “Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking.” And it’s true. Though the delicate flowers and pink blossoms on dresses from Ulla Johnson and Hellessy were pretty, there were plenty of other blossoms that seemed to catch the attention—and social media snaps—of the fashion week elite. These flowers were real, and they were fashioned into breathtakingly intricate arrangements at a number of different shows. At Sandy Liang’s cool girl presentation of pastel lace dresses and feminine fleece jackets, the exotic orchids in hues of baby pink and light blue were also the focus of Instagram accounts among the revelers in Narcbar. Created by Brrch Floral‘s Brittany Asch, these stunning arrangements were accented by creative touches, such as feathers and chains. Asch was also responsible for the vibrant blooms that lined a shelf in Mansur Gavriel’s all-pink shop. Aside from the brand’s see-now, buy-now debut (and their decision to put scrunchies on the models), the editors, buyers and famous bloggers simply could not stop talking about the two shelves of flowers on display. At Brandon Maxwell, a glamorous pink and red tiger—made from fresh blooms by florist Nicolas Cogrel—was a fitting centerpiece for the endlessly elegant collection. Set designer Marla Weinhoff explained her process behind this lavish creation: “I found the inspiration in a Vogue living book from the ’60s and asked the florist to do it.” We’re sure that building this extra-large animal head was not quite as simple as Weinhoff makes it seem. One brand even decided to make floret part of their runway; seriously, models at Brock Collection stomped down a gardenia-covered catwalk, scenting the room as they floated by in dreamy frocks, which were themselves covered in delicate floral prints. “It was a true collaboration with High Camp Supply—we decided to use their gardenias for the impact of the strong, sweet scent of the flower to set the mood and tone for our guests,” said Laura Vassar Brock, one half of the design duo behind the brand. “We wanted them to walk into a room that reflected our inspiration. The collection was inspired by a darker romance, childhood nostalgia; we explored notes of the brand in a new way and the flowers brought our inspiration to life.” Jason Wu and Cinq à Sept also got into the major floral trend, each presenting their collections alongside larger than life arrangements that provided a flash of natural color alongside their spring collections. Even street style is getting into the floral game, when Lewis Miller Design created not one, but two “flower flashes” around the city. Basically a type of graffiti, in the form of very Instagrammable flowers, the arrangements were created to celebrate a new collection from British paint and wallpaper company, Farrow & Ball. “My flower flashes bring the wild and raw abundance of the country to this gorgeous but grimy city in an unexpected and beautiful way,” Lewis Miller explained. And they’re a way for civilians get a front row view to this fragrant and stunning trend, at least according to Charlotte Cosby, Head of Creative at Farrow & Ball. She explained: “Building on the creative energy of a city like New York, especially during Fashion Week, we hope to inspire people everywhere to find a moment of escapism in the everyday—whether it’s in their home, on their daily commute, at work, or on their way to a fashion show.”

GARDENIA GURUS SUSAN HANSON...
It’s gardenia heaven in a beyond-elegant box,” says High Camp Supply flower fan Oprah Winfrey. KDHamptons originally discovered High Camp on Instagram three years ago, where I find so many great new design resources. High Camp was founded in June 2014 ...Susan Hanson in Belvedere, California, tells KDHamptons, “Gardenias are our favorite flowers. They immediately alter people’s mood, and we love living with them en masse in their perfectly imperfect form as blooms and vines. They make the ordinary extraordinary! ” Susan adds, “We are thrilled to share that we’ve opened new offices in San Francisco, launched a candle collection that was featured by Oprah’s Creative Director Adam Glassman in Oprah’s Favorite Things issue again for the third year running. We are also making Gardenia Palo Santo candle boxes with live gardenias, a candle and Palo Santo smudge sticks [below] that people are loving.” “We also contracted all the stem on gardenias in United States and are in the process of starting a wholesale account program to hotels, events and a few select top florists,” adds Susan. As if that’s not enough going on, the gardenia #girlbosses are also working on a fragrance, and beauty products as well. KDHamptons always incorporates High Camp gardenias into my entertaining and design schemes at home in the Hamptons [above at a summer dinner party, and in my garden fountain]. So whether you are planning an elegant dinner party, love to keep fragrant flowers by your bedside, or need the perfect hostess gift, receiving a beautiful box of gorgeous smelling gardenias with dark green waxy leaves is total delight. DESPERATELY SEEKING
We cannot recall exactly how we happened across High Camp Supply - a California-based, cut-to-order luxury gardenia delivery company. Maybe it was the feature in Vogue Magazine, the cult-favorite status designated by Vanity Fair, or perhaps it was because the queen of luxury herself-that’s right Oprah - listed High Camp Supply as one of her favorite things! Whatever the reason, we have reached the pinnacle of obsession with this pinnacle of luxury. "High Camp Supply was born of the concept that experiences are more valuable than things. I had envisioned creating a brand that celebrates the everyday with ephemeral luxury and sensory gifting" explains founder Susan Hanson. "Gardenias are my favorite flower" she continues. "They immediately alter a mood with magnetic sensory overload. Somehow they are elegant, charming, sexy and classic all at once." FLOWER SUBSCRIPTIONS MAKE THE PERFECT MOTHER’S DAY GIFTS
Founded by Susan Hanson, a San Francisco native with an affinity for gardenias and floral design, High Camp is coming up on its eight-year anniversary of delivering fresh blooms to people’s doors. The idea behind her business was the belief that experiences are more valuable than things, and few gifts elicit a positive emotion quite like an elegant arrangement of florals do. All of High Camp’s flowers arrive in a stylish black or white box, elevating the traditional flower delivery to new heights. And the monthly subscription boxes are hardly different. All you have to do is choose the box color, and the florists at High Camp will arrange 30 cut-to-order loose gardenia bunches and gently budding “vine” gardenias on 8-to-10-inch stems inside. Plus, you can pay annually and have your box delivered on a specific date for no additional charge. Did we mention that subscription holders also get preferred order status during peak season? The Vine and Bloom box may be a bit pricey ($2,208 for one year of monthly deliveries, which shakes out to about $184 per delivery), but we’d say it’s worth it.
KATHY HILTON’S MOTHER’S DAY WISH LIST INCLUDES A SWAROVSKI CRYSTAL-ENCRUSTED MINI BAG, NATURALLY
As far as moms go, Kathy Hilton is pretty much as cool as they come. In true maternal fashion, she’s selflessly played a supporting role as her daughters Paris and Nicky have dominated the spotlight since the early 2000s, and as her half-sisters made headlines onReal Housewives. (And as husband Rick did typical global business tycoon stuff). But after joining the last season ofReal Housewives of Beverly Hills, Hilton’s charm and humor made her an instant fan favorite, giving Kathy a spotlight of her very own—and a bright one at that. Beloved for her pranks and authenticity, the world is bound to see a whole lot more of the tastemaker, philanthropist, and expert party hostess. Ahead of this Mother’s Day, the mom and grandmother shared some of her top gifting picks for the holiday.
“I recently sent out High Camp Supply Gardenia Vine and Bloom Boxes to friends who hosted us during awards season and over spring break—the scent when you open the box is heavenly.”
