The ephemerality of gardenias is their magic—fleeting, delicate, yet unforgettable. To nurture them is to embrace a rhythm dictated by nature. A dance of patience and care.
From our farm to your hands, we take every step to extend the life of our gardenias so you can enjoy them at their best.
Gardenias are delicate creatures. With the right balance of sun, shade, and humidity, they flourish. After years of perfecting the process, our farm on the central California Coast provides a sanctuary for Gardenias to thrive and to be cultivated year-round.
We are the first and only company in the U.S. to ship cut-to-order High Camp Gardenias directly to your hands, even in the winter. Each vine, each bloom, is a testament to careful cultivation, a whisper of summer sent straight from our farm to you.
Where the Light Touches
How Gardenias Thrive
Gardenias crave balance, requiring very precise conditions to thrive. Too much of any one factor, and their delicate petals begin to drop in an act of self-preservation. For this reason, many growers shy away from taking them on.
They seek warmth, but not heat. Gardenias love warm temperatures—ideally between 60–70°F—yet cannot tolerate sudden fluctuations.
Moisture, but never excess. High humidity is essential, but too much moisture at the roots damages them, making watering a scrupulous process.
Light, but never to be scorched. Too little inhibits blooming, while too much direct sun can scorch their leaves.
A perfect pH. Gardenias require precise soil acidity as anything too alkaline can deprive them of nourishment.
When nurtured in the right environment, they flourish, offering a fragrance so rich and intoxicating that it lingers after the bloom fades.
The art of year-round gardenias is a devotion—a knowledge honed over time, attuned to the nuances of season and soil. Through thoughtful pruning, ideal hydration, and a deep respect for nature’s cycles, we extend their moment in the sun, ensuring you receive the most exquisite blooms at their peak.
A Gardenia Like No Other
At High Camp, we believe that a Gardenia’s beauty should never be rushed—but it should arrive at its peak. To ensure every flower reaches you at its most radiant, we cut only upon order, never before. Each gardenia is as fresh and fragrant as possible.
From the moment they are gathered, our blooms are handled with the utmost care. They are nestled into premium, water-resistant gift boxes designed to protect their petals while preserving moisture and scent. Shielded from excess light and air, they are carefully packaged to arrive as if they had just been plucked from the vine.
When left exposed, gardenias begin to lose their spark quickly. Because time is of the essence, all blooms are shipped overnight, delivering directly from our farm to your doorstep.
In Your Hands, In Your Care
Upon arrival, unbox them gently. Handle your gardenias with wet hands, and rinse the petals before touching as well. Give each stem a fresh cut (a small cut will do) and place them in cool, clean water to rehydrate. You can also slice the stem vertically for maximum hydration.
Gardenias thrive in moisture. Keep them in a cool space, away from direct heat or harsh sunlight. A light misting helps maintain their velvety petals, while brief refrigeration in a bag with a moist paper towel can extend their life even further.

A Love Letter to the Senses
Gardenias are a lesson in the art of presence—a reminder that life’s most beautiful moments are here for only that brief time. Their fragrance lingers like a memory, their petals soft as whispered words. To care for them is an act of appreciation for beauty in its purest form.
Like life, gardenias cannot be held forever. They are meant to be experienced, cherished in the now, their scent weaving itself into the fabric of a moment.
Breathe them in. Let them fill your space, your senses, your story. And when they fade, know that their beauty was never lost—it simply became a part of you.
