I have always been charmed by the simple gesture of picking a couple of flowers for someone, and leaving an unexpected bloom or two with a note. The unexpected moment sometimes resonates the most.
Flowers left on a pillow, a bedside table bouquet awaiting a precious guest, a single bloom in a lunchbox… the memory of this can last a lifetime.
Gardenias are particularly lovely for this, because the scent anchors the memory.
