THE INTIMACY OF HOSTING

THE INTIMACY OF HOSTING

"Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born."
- Anais Nin

The invitation to spend a weekend in someone’s home is the warmest honor to receive.
With Labor Day coming soon, some hosting tips to make guests feel at home seems timely.

If you are staying with someone this weekend, or bidding summer farewell in a vacation property, make it easy on yourself by planning early, and locking in the perfect graceful thank you/hostess gift to greet them before your arrival or the days after you depart.

If you are hosting, my favorite trick is to cook and prep as much as possible before guests arrive, allowing for more relaxing hours together.

I love to prepare a guest room with a stock of robes, hotel slippers, a luggage rack and extra hangers. A small steamer in a guest room, as well as basic toiletries and waters make guests feel comfortable and welcome.

The bedside table is a perfect place for flowers, candles, and anything you think guests may enjoy reading. A tiny note is also thoughtful.

The point is simply to convey joy and appreciation for presence. There is nothing more wonderful than sharing extended hours with those we consider dear.
Wishing you a beautiful weekend.
With love from High Camp,
